The real genesis of Space Cadets all started with a home renovation project that Kevin and his wife Serene undertook from October 2019 – December 2020.  While Kevin and his wife Serene had tackled a previous small-scale renovation, this was a much larger project for their new family home.  Given the size of the project, Kevin took over the networking and AV cabling as it should be a small job, right? Right?!??

Well, one of our first little hiccups happened to be that the pandemic struck right in the middle of the renovation.  Across the board there wasn’t much that came easy in the process.  COVID was just one of many roadblocks in a long and ultimately incredibly rewarding renovation journey. 

Going through the project provided Kevin with a few key learnings:

1. Having a rock-solid network and security infrastructure provides significant peace-of-mind and the ability to continue to expand your infrastructure
2. There is an overwhelming amount of research, building and technology fluency required to do this type of work
3. Experience is an invaluable asset. Using the tools, software and hardware devices provides expertise that can’t be captured through other mediums (no matter how many youtube educational videos you watch)
