Sierra Cabin Point-to-Point Network bridge

A family friend owns two cabins in a tucked away summer community in the Sierra Nevadas.  One cabin has a solid internet connection (~100 Mbps).  The second building is ~300 yards behind the first building with a minor uphill slope and a variety of smaller plants and pine and fir trees.  Cell coverage was spotty, so a reliable internet connection via a cell provider was out of the picture.

Space Cadets put in place a weather sealed point-to-point (PTP) wireless bridge between the buildings and created a full-house coverage Wifi Network for the second building.  Compared with the alternative of getting a second internet connection from their ISP, the project pays itself off in <6 months, and improved communication capabilities between the buildings.  Family members now work remotely from the location (!) and stream videos for the grandkids; the cabin space is significantly busier as a result.

  • Project Payback < 6 months
  • Excellent full house Wifi with full bandwidth access
  • Remote Work and Streaming Service access has significantly improved the cabin experience!
